10c Green, E. Grill (89). Rich color, wide and balanced margins, target cancel, Extremely Fine, with 2001 P.F. and 2018 P.S.E. certificates (VF-XF 85)
1c Buff (112). Fresh color, clear strike of "Hiogo, Japan" double-circle handstamp, Very Fine and choice example of this cancel which is scarce on the 1c 1869 Pictorial Issue, the U.S. Post Office opened in Hiogo in 1868, one year after those in Yokohama and Nagasaki, and was in operation until December 1874; the rate was 10c to the U.S., 3c or 6c between Treaty Ports and additional rates to Europe, ex Koppersmith, Saadi, Eubanks and Gorham, with 1991, 2002 and 2011 P.F. certificates

4c Lilac Brown (280a). Mint N.H., lovely warm color in this distinctive shade, choice centering, Extremely Fine, with 1995 P.F. and 2007 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90), one of just three at this grade with only six higher, undervalued in SMQ as the last example we sold in this same grade realized $1,100 hammer (Sale 1278)
