Three large margins, in at bottom but type characteristic still present, pretty shade, neat strike of U.S. Express Mail, Boston route agent's circular datestamp, vertical crease at left and light corner crease at bottom left, Fine appearance, this is reported to be the only known example of the U.S. Express Mail cancel on Scott No. 13, ex Wagshal, with 1968 P.F. certificate, this cancel is listed but unpriced in Scott, Scott value $750 with ordinary cancel

Original gum with bottom selvage and straddle-pane margin at right with divider mark, showing the clear triple transfer at top and bottom, detailed impression, Very Fine, this variety is listed but unpriced in Scott, accompanied by a photograph highlighting the variety and a lengthy 1969 letter from our firm explaining the triple transfer to a prospective bidder prior to the Matthies sale (realized $350), ex Matthies and Faust, with 2024 P.F. certificate as double transfer so offered on its own merits
2c Black, D. Grill (84). Centered to top right, distinct circle of wedges cancel, small tear at lower left, otherwise Fine, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate
2c Black, 12c Intense Black, Z. Grill (85B, 85E). Both appear unused but certified as cancels removed, 2c with a tear and thin spots, 12c few short perfs at bottom, otherwise Fine, each with 2025 P.F. certificate, SCV $3,350

3c Rose, E. Grill (88). Block of four with part imprint in left selvage, original gum, two bottom stamps are lightly hinged, one perhaps only has fingerprint, significantly misperfed with horizontal perfs well into design, leaving slightly incomplete stamps at bottom and large portions of adjoining stamps at top, top right stamp pinhole in grill and tiny toned spot, Very Good appearing and a dramatic freak, Scott value $6,000
