6c Carmine, H. Grill (137). Large part original gum which is heavily disturbed into the perfs, h.r. and small paper adhesions on back, several clear rows of grill points on Lincoln's neck, Fine, a scarce stamp in unused condition which would actually be improved by soaking, with 2024 P.F. certificate, Scott value with gum $5,000
24c Purple, H. Grill (142). Light but evident grill, strong color for this, cork cancel, Fine
30c Black, H. Grill (143). Several rows of clear grill points, cork cancel at left, faint corner crease at top right not noted on certificate, Very Fine appearance, with 1988 P.F. certificate
90c Carmine, H. Grill (144). Unused (no gum), well-centered, we believe at least partly reperfed at top and old P.F. certificate agrees but new P.F. certificate disagrees, some slight perf tip toning at top as well, appears Very Fine, a very scarce stamp unused, with 1980 (reperfed) and 2024 (not reperfed) P.F. certificates, SCV $10,000
90c Carmine, H. Grill (144). Unused (no gum), clear grill, bright color, centered to bottom, about Fine, a very scarce stamp unused in sound condition, with 2024 P.F. certificate, SCV $10,000
7c Vermilion (149). Huge Jumbo margins and almost perfectly centered, bright color, bold New York Foreign Mail circle of wedges cancel, Extremely Fine Gem, ex Curtis, with 2006 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95 Jumbo)
24c Purple (153). Original gum, lightly hinged, deep rich color on crisp paper, gorgeous centering with wide margins
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 24-CENT NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY UNGRILLED ISSUE. A DIFFICULT ISSUE TO FIND IN SUCH OUTSTANDING CONDITION.
With 1993 P.F. and 2003 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF-Superb 95). Only one grades higher (at 95J) and only three others share this desirable grade.
24c Purple (153). Original gum, rich color, Jumbo margins
VERY FINE AND CHOICE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1870 24-CENT NATIONAL BANK NOTE COMPANY UNGRILLED ISSUE.
With 2016 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85 Jumbo).
24c Purple (153). Extensive collection of the 24c National Bank Note Co. issue, nearly all used, more than 100 stamps including a few multiples and a few unused (including one with plate no.), also a block of four plate proof on India paper, many of the individual stamps or small groups are on original old auction lot cards, wonderful range of cancels including lots of colored and New York Foreign Mail, centering and condition are mixed with a range up to sound and Very Fine, for many of these stamps the collector paid a couple hundred dollars each, he was a true aficionado and never came across a No. 153 he didn't like, overall a wonderful collection with a high Scott value — exceeds $24,000 without accounting for any colored cancels
30c Black (154). Unused (regummed), attractive centering and margins, intense shade, Very Fine, with 2024 P.F. certificate
90c Carmine (155). Original gum which is slightly disturbed, bright color, perfs well clear of design all around, Very Fine, with 2024 P.F. certificate
90c Carmine (155). Large part original gum which is also slightly disturbed, well-centered for this issue, small toned or soiled spot at lower right, appears Very Fine, with 2024 P.F. certificate, Scott value as original gum $5,000

90c Carmine, Imperforate (191a). Horizontal pair, original gum, large to full margins, attractive color with the light "plate wash" as seen on all the known examples of this rare variety, thin spot at top, appears Very Fine
10c Black Brown (209b). Original gum, wonderful depth of color, attractive centering and margins, Very Fine and scarce, with 2001 P.F. certificate
2c Red Brown (210). Original gum, huge Jumbo margins and choice centering, rich color, Extremely Fine Gem, a massive stamp, with 2014 P.F. and 2017 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, XF-Superb 95 Jumbo), only three grade higher
30c Orange Brown (217). Original gum, exceptional centering with balanced margins, deep rich color on bright paper
EXTREMELY FINE GEM ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1888 30-CENT AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E.
With 1991 P.F., 2013 and 2021 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, Superb 98). Only one hinged stamp equals this grade and one grades higher — the Gem 100 offered in our 2024 Rarities sale.
30c Orange Brown, Imperforate (217a). Horizontal pair, original gum, large margins and rich color, Very Fine and scarce in sound condition, with 1984 and 2008 P.F. certificates — the latter catalogued as Scott 217Pa (VF-XF 85)
1c Dull Blue (219). Mint N.H., brilliant color on bright paper, Jumbo margins all around, Extremely Fine, a beautiful stamp, with 1999 P.F. certificate
