Great Britain, 1858, 2p Deep Blue (29; SG 45). Used with 1p Rose Red (33) and 3p Rose, Plate 5 (49), tied by "Liverpool 4 NO 68" with "466" in barred oval duplexes on folded letter to New York, light strike of red New York circular datestamp, Very Fine and colorful franking paying the 6p rate
Great Britain, 1867, 5sh Rose (57; SG 126). Horizontal strip of three, HA-HC, used with four additional stamps including 2sh with wing margin, 1sh, two 4p and one 3p, tied by indistinct barred numeral ovals, red "Registered Liverpool 15 AU 74" double-circle datestamp on registered cover to New York, three red wax seals on back including one intact, some soiling affects stamps, one 4p defective, refolded at left for better display, still Very Fine and unusual high franking of 18sh 11p paying 73-times the 3p rate for a half ounce

Tied by "1" in star of dots, "Paris 19 Dec. 70" double-circle datestamp on folded "PAR BALLON MONTE" part-printed lettersheet carried across the lines by Ballon Monte during the siege of Paris and sent by mail to Mansfield, Ohio, United States, London and New York transit datestamps, red "2 cents" handstamp, some minor overall wear
VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE BALLON MONTE SENT DURING THE SIEGE OF PARIS TO OHIO IN THE UNITED STATES.
The rate by Ballon Monte from Paris to New York was 80c, and the rate to an interior destination in the United States was 1fr. This was likely carried on the General Chanzy, which departed Paris at 2am on Dec. 20, 1870. The 2c was a credit for the ship to shore fee, and this was apparently not charged any extra postage to the recipient.

St-Lazare 27 Avril 69" double-circle datestamp on gray folded letter to New York, red "9" credit handstamp, boxed "PD" handstamp, some age spotting and some splitting along folds, still Fine and colorful triple-rate franking
France, 1863, 40c Pale Orange on Yellowish (35; Yvert 31). Horizontal pair, used with 40c Orange on Yellowish (59), tied by "8" in star of dots cancel, "Paris 10 Sept. 72" double-circle datestamp on cover to Brooklyn N.Y., red "2" credit handstamp, Very Fine use with two different 40c stamps paying the 120c Open Mail rate via England, with 2013 P.F. certificate
France, 1871, 15c Bister on Yellowish Paper (56; Yvert 55). Two horizontal pairs, brilliant color, tied by perfect strikes of Star of Dots, "Paris 19 Aout 73" double-circle datestamp on cover to New York, red boxed "P.P." handstamp, "N. York Steamship 10 Sep. 4" due marking, fresh and Very Fine, the stamps paid the single rate to port of entry then 10c was charged to the recipient

Used with 3kr Rose (9), tied by "Frankfurt A.M. 21/12" (1868) circular datestamps on cover to Philadelphia Pa., light strike of red New York transit datestamp, receiving backstamp, some splitting along folds and some wear, still Very Fine

Germany, 1872, 2gr Ultramarine (18). Used with 1872, 1gr Rose (17), tied by "Berlin P.A. No. 41 6 8 74" circular datestamps on cover to Providence R.I., red "New York Paid All Aug. 13" circular datestamp, slightly reduced at left, Very Fine and attractive
Belgium, 1869-70, 10c Green, 20c Light Ultramarine (32, 33). 10c straight edge at bottom and left, 20c straight edge at left, tied by "Liege 19 Aout 74" double-circle datestamp on cover to St. Louis Mo., neat "Due" handstamp with manuscript "8c", New York and receiving backstamps, slightly reduced at right, some overall soiling, still Fine, the rate was 50 centimes so this is short paid
Netherlands, 1869, 5c Ultramarine, 10c Lake, 15c Orange Brown (7, 8, 9). Three of 5c, tied by "91" in diamond of dots handstamp, purple "Rotterdam 20 Apr. 69" double-circle datestamp on blue folded letter to Andover Mass., red New York transit ties one stamp, light vertical file folds including one affecting 15c stamp, still Very Fine and colorful use
Sweden, 30ö Brown (11). Used with 24ö Orange (10), tied by neat strikes of "Stockholm 21 2 1871" circular datestamps on cover to Wales Mass. and forwarded to New York, red "2" credit handstamp, "FRANCO" in oval handstamp, light strike of Wales circular datestamp, fresh and Very Fine use sent thru North German Union Mail, apparently not charged additional postage for the forwarding, with 2009 Obermuller-Wilen certificate
Roman States, 1867, 80c Black on Lilac Rose (18; Sassone 20a). Used with 1867, 5c Black on Light Blue (21; Sassone 25), 10c Black on Orange Vermilion (22; Sassone 26a) and 20c Black on Deep Crimson (23; Sassone 27), tied by diamond grid cancels, "Roma 22 Dec. 68" double-circle datestamp on cover to Baltimore Md., neat strike of cursive "Insufficiente" handstamp, manuscript "Due 46" cents and other rate markings, some slight wear, still Very Fine and rare four-color franking, this was short paid for the double rate and so was treated as completely unpaid, with 2020 Bottacchi certificate
Spain, 1874, 50c Yellow (207). Four singles, tied by "Barcelona 27 Apr. 75" double-circle datestamps on cover to Charleston S.C., blue boxed company handstamp at bottom left, red London Paid datestamp, "New York U.S. Currency Due 3 May 13" depreciated currency datestamp, some wear, one stamp small tear, still Fine and unusual, the franking paid the rate to New York and the recipient was changed 3c U.S. postage in currency
Russia, 1866, 10k Brown & Blue, Coat of Arms (23). Used with 1866, 1c Black & Yellow (19) and 5c Black & Gray (22a), tied by oval handstamps on folded letter from St. Petersburg to Liverpool, England and forwarded to Boston Mass., forwarding postage paid by Great Britain, 1869, 6p Lilac, Plate 8 (51; SG 108), with right wing margin, tied by "Liverpool 30 AP 69" duplex datestamp and "466" in barred oval, red "Boston Paid May 12" datestamp, some slight wear, Very Fine, a colorful and unusual use from Russia to England and forwarded to the United States
