2c Carmine, Ty. II-III (266-267). Horizontal pair, left stamp Type II, original gum, accompanying certificate notes Mint N.H. but we are not so sure so will err on the side of caution and say lightly hinged, brilliant color, beautiful centering, Extremely Fine, of the six plates used to print the Type II stamp (Scott 266), only one, plate 170, contained a combination of both Types II and III -- only three rows from one pane were Type II, leaving a total of ten positions out of the plate that can yield this combination of types, with 1979 and 2000 P.F. certificates

$1.00 Black, Ty. I-II (276-276A). Horizontal pair, left stamp Type I, intense shade and impression, cork cancels, unusually choice centering

EXTREMELY FINE. AN ESPECIALLY CHOICE USED COMBINATION PAIR OF THE 1895 $1.00 WATERMARKED BUREAU ISSUE.

The $1.00 1894-95 Bureau Issue was printed in plates of 200 subjects. The plate consisted of fifteen vertical rows of Type I and five vertical rows of Type II, which accounts for the scarcity of Type II compared with Type I. There are only ten positions on the plate which yield combination pairs. The combination pair is considerably scarcer in used condition.

With 2000 P.F. certificate.
