P.S.E. has graded two used Scott 98s at Superb 98 and one at Gem 100. We have offered the Gem 100 several times, most recently in our Sale 1199 in 2019. This superb used stamp is destined to take its place in a very high-end classic collection.

With 2022 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98). SMQ value of $10,000 is for the normal paper — Scott prices the Very Thin Paper variety at a 70% premium over the normal paper.

90c Blue, Re-Issue (111). Unused (no gum), deep rich color on bright paper, unusually choice centering

EXTREMELY FINE UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1861 RE-ISSUE.

The 90c Re-Issue was printed from the original plate of 200 subjects. 10,000 stamps were printed (50 impressions). Only 317 of the 90c were sold; the remaining 9,683 were destroyed on July 16, 1884.

With 1982 P.F. and 2002 P.S.E. certificates (NG, XF-Superb 95). This is the highest grade awarded to an unused Scott 111 and it is shared by two others. The highest original-gum grade is 90. This is a perfect stamp for one who values centering over gum.
