VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A SCARCE STRIP OF FOUR OF THE 5-CENT U.S. AUTOMATIC VENDING MACHINE COMPANY TYPE I WITH A MINT NEVER-HINGED CENTER PAIR.

The Belasco book notes a strip of four is the largest recorded multiple. We have offered only two others since 1993 and both were hinged (from the Getlan sales, one was a guide line strip). With 2008 P.F. certificate. Scott value for hinged strip of four.

One of first and two of second, Mint N.H., green "Patents Pending/ Patents Pending" with wording at bottom reading upside down, back with "U.S. Automatic Vending Co. Pioneer Stamp Pocket 1 Madison Ave. New York City" and numbered "242", Very Fine, the Ty. I pocket is the rarest of the four different U.S.A.V. pockets, ex Dr. Agris, with 1997 P.F. certificate

Six items offered as individual lots in our auctions of the Getlan collection, each received genuine certificates but noting faults, including Brinkerhoff Ty. II 409 used line pair (separations), Farwell block and pair 384, Mailometer Ty. III 346 pair (thin spot), pair of Schermack Ty. I six holes 368 (crease) and block of eight of Schermack Ty. III 345, all appear Very Fine, with 2022 P.F. certificates

VERY FINE. A SCARCE ORIGINAL-GUM PASTE-UP PAIR OF THE 2-CENT HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 322.

Issued on July 31, 1908, and intended only to be used by private vending machine companies, Scott 322 is only known with the Die II widened line at lower left.
