5c Dark Blue, Imperforate Pair (557a). Original gum, lightly hinged, large even margins, intense color and impression, Very Fine and choice, only one or two panes of 100 are believed to exist, with 2015 P.F. certificate

10c Orange, Imperforate Pair (562b). Horizontal pair, unused (no gum) as are all known examples, wide margins, vibrant color, Very Fine and choice pair of this scarce variety, according to United States Stamps 1922-26 by Gary Griffith, dealer Philip Ward purchased a pane in 1925 in Oklahoma which had large areas marked for destruction with a blue crayon, examples such as the pair offered here not defaced by the blue crayon are rare, with 1957 P.F. certificate

7c Black, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Between (639a). Mint N.H., fresh and Very Fine, quite scarce, according to Gary Griffith, this variety was first reported in 1939, the postmaster in a small town near Cleveland was annoyed that several panes had some rows of perforations missing, he cut some apart by hand and then gave up, throwing them in a box which was later purchased by a stamp collector, rumored to be Karl Koslowski (of Scott 314A fame), it is believed that about 20 pairs and two blocks of four were purchased
7c Black, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Between (639a). Bottom stamp Mint N.H., intense shade, Very Fine and choice, according to Gary Griffith, this variety was first reported in 1939, the postmaster in a small town near Cleveland was annoyed that several panes had some rows of perforations missing, he cut some apart by hand and then gave up, throwing them in a box which was later purchased by a stamp collector (rumored to be Karl Koslowski), it is believed that about 20 pairs and two blocks of four were purchased, it is also known with a Mobile Ala. precancel
2c Lake, Valley Forge (645a). Mint N.H., exceptionally well-centered, deep color in the very distinctive Lake shade (the normal Carmine Rose stamp is included for comparison), Extremely Fine, this is the first time we have offered the Valley Forge issue in the Lake color, Scott No. 645a, with 2017 A.P.S. certificate, listed but not priced in Scott
2c Lake, Sullivan Expedition, Ohio River (657a, 681a). Mint N.H., both with rich color in the distinctive Lake shade, No. 657a Fine, No. 681a Very Fine, No. 657a with 2001 P.S.E. certificate for a block of four, No. 681a with 2011 P.S.E. certificate (left selvage since removed)
9c Light Rose, Nebr. Ovpt. (678). Mint N.H., radiant color, mathematically precise centering
EXTREMELY FINE GEM MINT NEVER HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 9-CENT NEBRASKA OVERPRINT, WITH THE PERFECT P.S.E. GRADE OF GEM 100.
With 2024 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100). Only three others share this perfect grade, which is the highest awarded.
2c Carmine Rose, Von Steuben, Imperforate (689a). Positions 33-34, horizontal pair, original gum, large to full margins, fresh and Extremely Fine, three panes of 100 were originally discovered, the first was returned and destroyed, some stamps from the second pane were used on covers and the remainder was returned, the third pane was discovered in Washington state and was purchased intact at the post office, all known examples come from this third pane
2c Von Steuben, Imperforate (689a). Positions 82-83, horizontal pair, original gum, lightly hinged, large margins and bright color, Extremely Fine, three panes of 100 were originally discovered, the first was returned and destroyed, some stamps from the second pane were used on covers and the remainder was returned, the third pane was discovered in Washington state and purchased intact at the post office, all known examples come from this third pane, ex Floyd and Field, with 1998 P.F. certificate
2c Dark Lake & Black (703b). Mint N.H., intense shade in the distinct Dark Lake color, bit heavy diagonal crease at lower left not mentioned on accompanying certificate, Fine appearance, ex Laehder, with 1998 P.F. certificate
2c Carmine Lake, Olympic Winter Games (716a). Mint N.H., bright color, Fine, with 2004 P.S.E. certificate for a strip of three, Scott lists two shades under the No. 716a umbrella—Lake and Carmine Lake—they only price the Lake shade at $1,000
3c Washington, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Between (720c). Mint N.H. (light fingerprint on gum), rich color, fresh and Fine, a very scarce error
5c Kosciuszko, Horizontal Pair, Imperforate Vertically (734a). Positions 53-54, original gum, brilliant color, Very Fine, only one pane of 100 was discovered, leaving only 50 pairs known, some have faults and four are in the unique plate block of eight
2c Carmine Lake, Maryland (736c). Mint N.H., deep color that looks more like a true Lake color, Very Fine, with photocopy of 2015 P.S.E. certificate for a block of six, the Carmine Lake shade is listed but not priced in Scott, the Lake shade (No. 736b) catalogues $1,000
3c Nicolet's Landing, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Horizontally (739a). Original gum, lightly hinged, excellent centering, wonderfully bright and fresh, Extremely Fine, P.F. certificate No. 165750 (for a block of four) no longer accompanies
3c Nicolet's Landing, Horizontal Pair, Imperforate Vertically (739b). Mint N.H., beautifully balanced margins, brilliant color, Extremely Fine, a very elusive error pair in Mint N.H. condition with choice centering
1c Yosemite, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Horizontally (740a). Positions 33/43, original gum, h.r. on the top stamp, bright color, Fine, Datz states sixteen pairs or strips of three are recorded, signed "S.A." (Spencer Anderson) and with 2010 P.F. certificate
2c Grand Canyon, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Horizontally (741a). Original gum, small h.r. at top, brilliant color, Very Fine and choice, signed in pencil, accompanying left selvage has become separated

EXTREMELY FINE. THE 2-CENT GRAND CANYON IMPERFORATE VERTICALLY IS VERY RARE, ESPECIALLY IN MINT NEVER-HINGED CONDITION.
Datz states that 2-3 panes are known. Bottom left and bottom right corner selvage blocks of ten from plate 21260 are known, which would indicate the existence of at least two panes. The bottom right plate block is Mint N.H. and was last sold by us in 2000. The bottom left plate block was last offered by us in 1989, and its gum need to be examined. We have offered only two other Mint N.H. pairs since keeping computerized records, in 2000 and 2013. The latter was described as having a natural gum wrinkle.
Ex Field. With 1998 P.F. certificate. Signed lightly in pencil on right stamp. Underpriced in Scott given its scarcity.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 4-CENT MESA VERDE IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY ERROR. EASILY ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES KNOWN.
Only 15 pairs have been recorded, and 6-9 have the Post Office paper adherence.

This issue was printed by the American Bank Note Company and perforated in three different formats: Perf 11 x 12 (Scott 1789), Perf 11 All Around (Scott 1789A) and Perf 12 All Around (Scott 1789B). It is believed that the USPS was unaware that there were different perforations. The Perf 12 All Around is by far the rarest. With 2003 A.P.S. certificate.
