EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A BEAUTIFUL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT 1890 ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E.
With 2009 and 2013 P.S.E. certificates (both Superb 98). Only four grade higher (all at 98J, we have never offered any) and four others share this desirable grade. We have offered only one other in this grade since 2009, in our recent "Vaquero" sale.

Rich color, machine cancel positioned so that the characteristics of the variety are clearly visible, perfect centering with unusually wide margins, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb stamp in every respect, according to Brookman the varieties were caused by a breakdown of the metal of the transfer roll, only one plate of the dozens used contains a combination of both varieties (Plate 246), with 2009 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98 Jumbo), this is the highest grade awarded and the only example to achieve it

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT 1890 SMALL BANK NOTE ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. — THIS IS THE ONLY EXAMPLE TO ACHIEVE THIS GRADE, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED. A STUNNING STAMP IN EVERY RESPECT.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 15-CENT 1890 ISSUE, GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E.
The 15c 1890 stamp is, in our opinion, one of the most striking designs of the Gilded Age regular issues. Its distinctive three-quarter portrait of Henry Clay is elegantly framed and printed in an extraordinarily deep shade of Indigo Blue. The beauty of the issue is enhanced in examples such as this stamp, which provides a balanced frame of white margins around the design.

This is a difficult issue to obtain with Jumbo margins. With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90 Jumbo). Only five grade higher (three at 95, one each at 95J and 98). Two others share this desirable grade.
