The $3.00 Charter Party is also known with the A. D. & B. Sands' Elixir of Opium (RS208) design printed on back (see Sale 1010, lot 159), which is unique. The example offered here is almost as rare. We have offered only three others since keeping computerized records and none were sound.

Both the Small and Large "Persian Rug" stamps were printed in sheets of one. Because of their size, the large number of perforations on each stamp, and the fact that they were used on documents which were frequently folded across the stamps, most examples are faulty to some degree.

Transit Insurance Policy made out to Steinway & Sons, the famous Piano Manufacturers, the revenues were added each time additional premiums were paid, the policy lists a record of ship names and destinations for piano shipments, some splitting along folds and stamp faults, very unusual and desirable historical record of this well-known New York City firm, ex Tolman

Stamps mounted on album pages, range of First issue Imperforate and Part Perforated with a couple slightly better and a few suspect, First Issue Perforated largely complete including Nos. Wine Stamps. 58 different values in complete sheets, smaller format stamps in sheets of 100, larger format stamps represented by two sheets of 50 each, without gum as issued, some curling, Very Fine, Scott value over $40,000
Match Stamp Collection. In an Aldrich albums, well-filled throughout, many cataloguing hundred of dollars each, a little duplication, some blocks and a few proofs, condition is mixed as expected, the higher cataloguing stamps usually have faults to some degree, total catalogue value should be quite high, probably approaching $40,000
Match and Medicine Balance. More than 80 auction lot cards from small to large auction houses (including Siegel), the collector's habit was to never remove the stamp or stamps from the lot card when he received it, so each item in this group remains as it was shipped, wide range of material with mostly First thru Third issues but some others as well, many catalogue in the low to mid hundreds of dollars and we note one as high as $1,400 (R79a), for many of these the consignor payed in the low hundreds and some up to $500, condition is mixed but plenty of attractive stamps and multiples are present, overall Fine accumulation of auction lots with strong catalogue value, impossible to describe completely so we recommend viewing the linked website PDF

Single banker's box loaded with material, wide range with no particular organization, the collector's habit was to never remove the stamp or stamps from the lot card, stock sheets or envelopes when he received them from auction or dealers, so each item or collection in this hoard remains as it was shipped, highlights include a couple larger intact wide-ranging collections, a number of First thru Third issue collections, a collection of more than 100 Charles Osgood cancels (paid $1,200 hammer for this), a consular collection, a folder from Irving Trust Co. N.Y. with dozens of pages loaded with 1930's Documentary issues cancelled by their handstamp, each identified in manuscript for the client and the tax, also lots of multiples, part sheets, some documents, proofs, variety of small auction lots, dealer approvals and other accumulations, many groups with cost in the hundreds of dollars, mixed condition but overall an impressive hoard, viewing recommended, our estimate is no doubt a fraction of the collector's cost
