1c Green, Coil (412). Mint N.H. guide line pair, exceptional centering and rich color, Extremely Fine Gem, a superb line pair, with 2004 P.S.E. and 2021 P.F. certificates (both Superb 98), only one line pair has been graded higher (at 100, offered in our 2019 sale of the Depew collection) and two others share this grade
2c Carmine, Coil (413). Mint N.H. guide line pair, brilliant color on bright white paper, essentially perfect centering with balanced margins
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN OUTSTANDING MINT NEVER-HINGED GUIDE LINE PAIR OF THE 1912 2-CENT HORIZONTAL COIL, SCOTT 413, GRADED SUPERB 98 XQ BY THE P.F.
With 2021 P.F. certificate (Superb 98 XQ). This is the highest grade awarded by the P.F. to a Scott 413 line pair, with none equal and the "XQ" addition speaks to its particular beauty at this grade. For P.S.E., only one Mint N.H. line pair grades higher (at 100, offered in our 2019 sale of the Depew collection) and three grade 98. SCV $575.
2c Carmine, Coil (413). Mint N.H., choice centering and margins, rich color, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2023 P.F. certificate (XF-Superb 95), this coil is surprisingly scarce as a Mint N.H. single in the highest grades, by way of comparison, the P.S.E. Population Report records only five at this 95 grade and none higher, SCV $130
8c Pale Olive Green (414). Mint N.H., lovely pastel color, well-balanced margins, Extremely Fine Gem, with 2014 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95)
10c Brown Yellow (416a). Mint N.H., intense color, well-centered, Very Fine, scarce in Mint N.H. with any semblance of decent centering, accompanied by color analysis and 2021 P.S.A.G. certificate (VF 80)

With 2016 P.F. and 2021 P.S.E. certificates (both Superb 98). Only four grade higher (two 98J and two 100) in the P.S.E. Population Report.
50c Violet (421). Mint N.H., radiant color on bright paper, perfectly centered with wide and balanced margins
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT EXAMPLE OF SCOTT 421, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. — THIS IS THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED AND IT IS SHARED BY ONLY FIVE OTHERS.
The 50c 1914 Franklin issues, Scott 421 and 422, are differentiated by the type of watermark — with No. 421 showing a double-line watermark and No. 422 a single-line watermark. However, collectors need not bother checking the watermark on original gum examples, as Scott 421 essentially always has offset on the gum, while Scott 422 does not. Both are elusive in the highest grades, with Superb 98 the highest Mint N.H. grade for both.
With 2021 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98). This is the highest grade awarded and only five others share it.
50c Violet (422). Mint N.H., fresh color and choice centering, Extremely Fine, with 2008 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90)
$1.00 Violet Brown (423). Mint N.H., near mathematically perfect centering with balanced margins, deep shade and proof-like impression on post-office fresh paper
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A TRULY EXCEPTIONAL MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1912 $1.00 PERF 12 ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT STAMP TO FIND MINT NEVER-HINGED WITH SUCH CHOICE CENTERING.
Plate 5782 was the only plate prepared for each of the $1.00 Franklin issues (Scott 423, 460, 478 and 518). The first three Scott numbers on this list are far scarcer than the Perf 11 No. 518, and for Scott 423, 460 and 478, the P.S.E. Population Report lists a combined 12 stamps graded Superb 98 or 98 Jumbo, and none higher. Scott 423 offered here is the only Perf 12 stamp among this group. The centering on this Gem would be very difficult to improve upon.
With 2024 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98). Only one stamps grades higher at 98J, and one other equals this grade. We have not offered either of those stamps.

50c Violet (440). Original gum, we detected the barest trace of hinging at bottom left when we last offered this in 2012, though it has two P.S.E. certificate as Mint N.H., radiant color on post-office fresh paper, unusually choice centering with wide and balanced margins, Extremely Fine Gem, ex Dr. Killien, with 2002 and 2006 P.S.E. certificates as Mint N.H. (XF-Superb 95; SMQ value for hinged is $1,000)
