2c Black, F. Grill (93). Used with 1c Blue, F. Grill (92), each tied by clear strike of blue Stovepipe fancy cancel, matching "Leominster Ms. Feb. 12" circular datestamp on Grant illustrated Presidential Campaign cover to Boston, barely reduced at right, few minor adherences at center, Very Fine, a scarce and attractive use of the Black Jack tied by a fancy cancel on a campaign cover, ex Metzger and Faust
2c Black (73). Tied by "Providence R.I. Mar. 11, 1865" double-circle datestamp and target cancel on red and blue Waving Flag Patriotic cover addressed locally, Mar. 10, 1865 docketing at left by Col. George W. Hallet, who commanded the First Battalion of the First Rhode Island Cavalry, he subsequently served as Chief of Cavalry for Rhode Island, fresh and Very Fine, Black Jack Patriotics are scarce, especially in this choice condition, ex Dr. Burrows
2¢ Black (73). Tied by "Philadelphia Pa. Apr. 18, 1864" double-circle datestamp on unsealed Great Central Fair for the Sanitary Commission cover to Salem, New Jersey, with illustrated battlefield scene in red depicting fallen soldier and "From Office of the Committee on Labor, Income and Revenues, 118 So. Seventh St. Phila" imprint, Extremely Fine and beautiful example of this Sanitary Fair design in red, bearing the 2c Black Jack, ex Kantor (illustrated in their book, fig. 134) and Gross

Tied by indistinct strikes of Philadelphia circular datestamp on Great Central Fair for the Sanitary Commission cover to local street address, with illustrated battlefield scene in red depicting fallen soldier and "From Office of the Committee on Labor, Income and Revenues, 118 So. Seventh St. Phila" imprint, couple small edge tears at top and missing backflap, still Very Fine example of this Sanitary Fair design in red, bearing the 2c Black Jack
2c Black (73). Tied by "Philadelphia Pa. Mar. 20, 1864" double-circle datestamp on Great Central Fair for the Sanitary Commission cover to Wrightsville Pa., with illustrated battlefield scene depicting fallen soldier, enclosure is a broadside for the Great Central Fair Restaurant Department, stamp with natural straight edge and few clipped perfs at left, cover with edgewear and small waterstain at bottom left, Fine appearance and desirable with the enclosure
2c Black (73). Pair and single, tied by Philadelphia circular datestamp and cork duplex, as with a very similar cover we have encountered it appears that the single 2c was applied first and the pair from another sheet added when the circular was weighed, on unsealed yellow cover to Weldon Pa. with "U.S. Sanitary Commission, Historical Bureau" corner card, New York City return address, right stamp in pair with faulty corner at top right, appears Very Fine, a scarce and unusual triple-rate circular use
2c Black, D. Grill (84). Clear grill points, tied by bold cork cancel on bright buff Coyle, Laughlin & Co. Philadelphia, Wholesale Grocer's corner card cover to Academia Pa., stamp with light crease at top left not mentioned on accompanying certificate, Fine and scarce use of the 2c D Grill on cover, with 1974 P.F. certificate, accompanied by a second cover, franked with ungrilled 2c Black (73) with a similar S. A. Coyle & Co. corner card, Very Fine and nice companion to the 2c D Grill cover, SCV for the first cover $5,750
2c Black, Z. Grill (85B). Tied by lightly struck "Hartford Ct. Apr. 23" circular datestamp and cork duplex on Bullard & Parsons (machine tool co.) corner card cover addressed locally, Apr. 22, 1868 docketing at left, Fine stamp on an attractive cover, with 1985 P.F. certificate, SCV $1,300
2c Black, Z. Grill (85B). Two singles affixed foot-to-foot and slightly overlapping, tied by Negative Star fancy cancels with partly clear Rutland Vt. circular datestamp on bright buff cover with ornate Bardwell House Hotel corner card, addressed to Fort Dodge Iowa, cover edge repair at right not affecting stamps, Fine appearing and scarce use of two 2 Z Grill stamps on a corner card cover, with 1999 P.F. certificate, SCV for a single on cover is $1,300
2c Black (73). Tied by target cancel, "Washington D.C. Oct. 22" circular datestamp on buff cover to local address, mostly clear strike of Old Capitol Prison "Passed W. P. Wood Supt.
