Very few are known. We have offered one reduced and off card and one other of similar size but in a distinctly darker shade.

The dollar-value State Department issues were printed in sheets of ten with black imprint and both color plate numbers at top and with green imprint at bottom.
1c-90c War, Official, Small Die Proofs on Wove (O83P2-O93P2). On original gray card backing, 30c faulty, otherwise Very Fine set, approximately 85 were produced
12c Rose, War, Plate Proof on India (O89P3). Four blocks of 25, large margins, few faults to be expected on this fragile paper, one with backstamp showing thru on two stamps, otherwise Very Fine, Scott value as blocks of four and singles

The Atlanta trial color plate proofs on card were prepared for display at the 1881 International Cotton Exposition in Atlanta. Very few complete sets exist intact.

Newspapers & Periodicals Proofs Accumulation. Extensive accumulation of the small-format issues in a single binder, mostly plate proofs on card and some on India — well over 400 singles including many trial colors, plus approximately 20 blocks, also several large die proofs, a few Specimens and pages of facsimiles, this material was formerly part of the George Sayers collection, he was known for his Officials departmental plate varieties studies, though he also studied Newspaper stamps and there are notes in many places with his comments on varieties or the nature of the proofs, faults to be found but largely good condition, Scott value exceeds $7,000 just counting the plate proofs at $15 each, without premium for the better trial colors and large dies, a fascinating collecting worth review on our website PDF
