2c 1899, 1901 and 1917 Issues, Misprints from Foldovers (279B, 301, 499 var). Three items, including right selvage vertical pair of 279B with foldover causing part of design to lack printing, single of No. 301 with foldover causing right diagonal half to lack printing, last is left selvage vertical strip of three of 499 with foldover in selvage causing part of the design to be printed on back of selvage, original gum, h.r., Very Fine group with tremendous eye appeal
1c-10c 1902-03 Issue, Misperforation (300-304, 307 var). Five multiples and one single, each showing dramatic perforation anomalies, including 1c "single" perforated down the middle of each of two adjacent stamps, 2c, 3c, 4c and 5c multiples with foldovers causing wildly off perfs and portions printed on the backs of two, 10c block with extra rows of horizontal perfs through the middle of the stamps, centering is obviously not the point on these and there are a fair number of h.r. reinforcements, a dramatic and desirable group
2c Carmine, Louisiana Purchase, Vertical Pair, Imperforate Horizontally (324a). Original gum, well-centered, deep rich color
EXTREMELY FINE SOUND AND CENTERED EXAMPLE OF THE RARE 2-CENT LOUISIANA PURCHASE IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY. THIS IS EASILY ONE OF THE FINEST PAIRS KNOWN.
It is well-established that only one pane of 50 of this commemorative error was discovered. It was purchased as a new issue at the post office in Cleveland, Ohio, by A. W. Weigel of the Ohio Stamp Company. Very shortly thereafter, the pane, or at least a large part of it, became part of the George H. Worthington collection. The pane had been divided prior to the Worthington sale, to allow multiple collectors to obtain an example of the variety. In the Worthington auction, 26 of the 50 stamps were offered; the remaining 24 stamps were sold privately.
Our reconstruction of the pane of 50 includes six blocks of four, twelve pairs proven by photos and a pair from Positions 3/8 that we have not been able to verify with a photo. Among the blocks, the right arrow block is in the Miller collection owned by The New York Public Library, and the unique plate block was sold in the Gross collection. The block in the Lilly collection (Positions 31-32/36-37) has not been seen in years and might have been divided into pairs.
Ex Blumenkopf (Siegel Sale 826) and Whitman. Power Search shows very few of these rarities -- we have only offered four others since 2009 and two of those had perfs touching the design. With 1997 and 2009 P.F. certificates.
2c Carmine, Double Impression (406b). Original gum, showing distinctive doubling with one impression split, Very Fine and scarce, very few are known, this is the first single we have offered, the P.F. has certified only one block (offered in the following lot), one strip of three containing two, one pair and one cover
2c Carmine, Double Impression (406b). Block of four, original gum, trivial adherence, the strong double impression is in the center of the block and is shared by all four stamps, perfs slightly in at right as presumably are all the other few surviving examples
THIS DISTINCTIVE DOUBLE IMPRESSION MULTIPLE IS A MAJOR RARITY OF THE WASHINGTON-FRANKLIN SERIES. THIS IS ALSO THE ONLY BLOCK CERTIFIED AS GENUINE BY THE PHILATELIC FOUNDATION.
Ex Brett. With 2009 P.F. certificate. Scott value as singles
2c Rose Red, Ty. I, Misperforation (425 var). Mint N.H. bottom right corner selvage block of twelve, several foldovers at bottom right corner causing wild perfs thru designs and virtually imperforate at bottom, additional crease causing tear thru few stamps at right (likely also occurred during production), Very Fine and dramatic
5c Carmine, Error (467). Mint N.H. double error in block of twelve, brilliant color, unusually choice centering
EXTREMELY FINE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE DOUBLE ERROR BLOCK OF THE 5-CENT CARMINE ERROR, SCOTT 467.
The bottom error is especially choice. With 1997 P.F. and 2009 P.S.E. certificates.

2c Carmine, Misperforation (554 var). Block of 60 with plate no. 14530 at bottom and left and siderographer's initials at bottom left, horizontal perfs are normal but vertical perfs start as almost normal at top and move diagonally thru center of stamps, part of right stamps cut off and reattached with brown tape (probably applied at the post office), Mint N.H., missing small piece of corner selvage, Very Fine and very unusual freak for this issue
3c Violet (555). With enormous bottom left selvage with siderographer's initials and offset in selvage, original gum, barely hinged (if at all), deep rich color, Very Fine and choice, an unusual item
$5.00 Carmine & Blue, Carmine Lake & Dark Blue, Shifted Vignette (573, 573a var).
