19th Century and Early 20th Century Collection, 1845-1907. Extensive and valuable balance of a collection, used and unused stamps in a single Palo album with extensive duplication because the collector loved shades, a great many are unused and some just appear so, loads of better Scott numbers, full disclosure at the beginning is that this collection is a landmine of condition issues, ranging from some sound to faulty and everything in between, lots of regummed, reperfed and some cleaned to appear unused, still the highlights are voluminous including Nos. 9X1, 10X1, four No. 1, No. 2 appears unused but pen cancelled, 1c 1851 imperforates including several unused, two No. 12, numerous Nos. 10-11A with shades, numerous 10c imperforates with some unused, No. 27 appears unused but light pen cancel, No. 29 apparently unused, seven Nos. 30-30A including unused, No. 31 unused according to Weiss certificate and used according to A.P.S. certificate, other 10c perforated including unused, several unused from Scott Nos. 36-38, No. 39 with genuine red cancel but a Frankenstein with major repairs (Scott value $10,500), two other No. 39 unused, No. 47 (repaired), full range of 1861s with many unused or appear unused, including five No. 72 — two appear unused (regummed), original gum No. 78a, 1869 Pictorials complete, a number of the 1c-12c unused, 1869 Pictorial Re-Issues with Nos. 125-127 unused, extensive Bank Notes with lots of unused, Columbians with duplication including several used and unused dollar values, 1894-98 Bureaus essentially complete with duplication, Trans-Mississippi including used $1.00 and unused $2.00, 1902 Issue and commemoratives up to 1907 round out the collection, overall an exceptional if challenging balance, many certificates accompany but this probably needs a whole lot more, we recommend careful review including on our website PDF
Collection, 1847-20th Century. Attractive collection in six three-ring binders, several better including used Nos. 1, 2, 14, 15, 17, 30, 30A, 118-122, unused including Nos. 230-245, 285-293, 294-299, 300-313, 323-330, 397-404, 477, 479, 480, 523, 524, 573, 630, 658-679, C1-C6, C13-C15, Q1-Q12, few blocks and plate blocks, few C.S.A., several other better such as 1894-98 Bureaus and Postage Dues, some regummed or with other faults, some classics not mentioned may potentially be unused but have condition issues, some faults, Fine-Very Fine, an excellent old-time collection
Collection, 1851-1960. Mostly used stamps in a Scott National album, highlights including Nos. 17, 29, 37-38, 68-71, 77, 101, 118, 121, 126 (unused), 138, range of other Bank Notes, Columbians including unused Nos. 240-241 and 245, Trans-Mississippi including used No. 292, Back-of-Book including decent showing of Revenues, mixed condition, overall Fine appearing with many useful stamps
Modern Collection, 1935-2010. Large collection in nine albums plus two binders, unused stamps beginning in 1935 and continuing through 2010, includes singles, plate blocks for a great many issues, other blocks, panes/sheets and some first day covers, many dollar-value and priority/express mail issues, recent issues in full panes, even includes five 1976 Bicentennial $2.00 bills, the two binders contain full sheets, we presume all Mint N.H., fresh and Very Fine collection, the face value alone is quite substantial but the completeness of the modern issues is also very desirable
20th Century Collection, 1920-63. Substantial collection in four Palo albums, first album with the 1920 Commemoratives and 1920s Regular Issues with strong coverage through the 1940s, the collector liked shades so many of the 1920s stamps show significant duplication including all of the 1922 Issue with four No. 573 (two no gum), better individual Scott nos. including 595 (PFC), 606a pair, two Mint N.H. White Plains sheets (one with perf separations), five P.S.E. graded Kansas-Nebraska stamps in the 85-95 range (total SMQ for these is $310), plate blocks, 703b N.H. (P.S.E. certificate), Presidentials with plate blocks to 24c and lots of coils, later issues to 1960s, Air Post is also extensive with C1-C6 with duplication, C10a booklet pane, Graf Zeppelins with two C13 (one N.H.) and used C14, C18 blocks and pairs, couple Zeppelin covers with Germany dual frankings, two of the additional albums contain more duplication including another Kansas-Nebraska set and Special Delivery as well as later issues, last album is all Back-of-Book including used Postage Dues, Officials and Parcel Post, also complete sets of unused Parcel Post and Parcel Post Postage Due plus Special Handling, finally U.S. Possessions which is mostly Philippines, much of the gum is Mint N.H., slightly mixed condition but there are plenty of sound and attractive stamps
Plate Blocks Collection, 1901-1938. Album pages with a wide range of plate blocks, including Nos. 294, 367-368, 370-373, 397-398, 513, 537, 548-550, 579, 614-619, 620, 630, 803-834, many Mint N.H., attractively mounted on album pages, few trivial faults here and there but in better condition than normally seen, Fine-Very Fine and attractive group
Cancellation Collection, 1857-87. Scott album loaded with thousands of classic stamps, organized as a cancellation study with heavy duplication especially of No. 65 and Bank Notes, all kinds of cancels including some fancy such as stars, letters, numerals, multiple colors, "Portland Me." and "Boston Mass" negative, San Francisco cogwheels, etc., condition is mixed but the collection is loaded with clear strikes, overall an impressive display
Plate Blocks Collection, 1938-2020. Four volumes of mostly Mint N.H. plate blocks, starts with Scott 836, includes Famous Americans, 1053, we see some high denominations such as $8.75, some souvenir sheets, fresh and Very Fine, a difficult group to assemble, face value is no doubt fairly high
Extensions Balance. Four items, including No. 31 with light diagonal corner crease, 68 reperfed at right and bottom, 121 with nibbed perf at bottom left, 440 previously hinged (older certificate says it's a 477), Very Fine appearing group, each with current certificate
Balance. Seven singles and block of four, including used singles Nos. 70 (2) and 72, unused Nos. 275, E6, E8 and O103, block of four of J25, some faults, some with conflicting certificates, overall appear Very Fine
Balance. Nine mostly Mint N.H. stamps, including Nos. 524 (lightly hinged), 550, 567-568, 570-573 and 619, rich colors, Very Fine-Extremely Fine, few with older certificates
Balance, Mint N.H. 13, including Nos. 286 (3), 338 (2), 400 (2), 416 (3) and 433 (3), better centering than normally seen, fresh and Very Fine-Extremely Fine
Balance. Eight unused and eight used, used Nos. 182-189, unused including Nos. 220 (2), 338, 381 (2), 400, 433 and 472, all lightly hinged and better centering than normally seen, Very Fine-Extremely Fine group
Better Commemoratives Balance. Nine unused stamps, including Nos. 241-245, 291-293 and C13-C15, original gum, h.r., few small faults such as thin spots, Fine, an excellent opportunity to acquire all the stamps of the most popular sets we lusted over as kids, Scott value $13,280
Auction Lot Accumulation. Single banker's box filled with dozens of individual lot cards from various auctions including a few Siegel, the collector's habit was to never remove the stamp or stamps from the lot card when he received it, so each item in this hoard remains as it was shipped from the auction house, the vast majority are classic pre-1900 issues as early as the 1851-57 issues (like a strip of three of No. 28 with some trimmed perfs), also including lots of 1861s, Bank Notes and Officials, we note numerous lots where the consignor payed in the low hundreds and some up to $600, condition is very mixed but plenty of attractive stamps are present, overall an impressive accumulation of lots with a substantial cost basis, impossible to describe thoroughly so we recommend viewing the linked PDF
Collection Balance. Two stock books of unused and used stamps, good number of better Scott numbers including used Nos. 1, 17, 38 (2), 67, 99, 120-122, unused including Nos. 240, 244, 291, 292, C13-C15, few other better, mixed condition with some faults to be found, overall Fine-Very Fine or appear so with a number of useful stamps
Classics Balance. Old-time stock pages and cards with a mixture of unused and used stamps, we won't opine which are unused and which are used but the following Scott Nos. (among others) are represented: 35, 38, 56 (2), 63, 71, 116, nice group of Bank Notes, 228, 229, few blocks including 228 (some toning), Columbians to $4.00, nice group of Officials, also includes some odds and end in glassines, some faults, some Fine-Very Fine, an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable student to perhaps find some nuggets
Classic Blocks Balance. 26 blocks, including blocks of four of Nos. 35, 63, 65, 158, 178, 179, 182, 184, 189, 206, 207, 209, 213-216, 260, 269, 272, 281, block of eight of No. 24 (no gum), blocks of six of Nos. 26 and 73, center two stamps of the No. 26 block Mint N.H., mostly original gum, h.r., some faults, overall appear Fine-Very Fine
Accumulation of Classic Accumulations. Large box filled with numerous used stamp accumulations, collections and small groups, many bought as auction group lots in long-ago or smaller auctions, thematically the strength is in 1870s Bank Notes with at least many hundreds of stamps including lots of cancels such as N.Y.F.M., 5c Garfield specialized collection, lots of duplication, other areas covered include 1860s issues with a page of fancy cancels, a collection of No. 68, we note at least one classic collection for which the consignor paid $1,600, lots of Officials including an intact collection with stated catalogue value over $2,000, also some postal stationery groups and more, mixed condition as would be expected, overall an eclectic classic hoard which will reward patient examination as well as sorting for the winner
Blocks Balance. 51 blocks of four, including Nos. 294, 295, 297, 298, 308, 326, 327, 329 (2), 340-342, 344, 371, 372 (2), 374, 375, 377, 379, 399, 400, 401-402, 416, 461, 475-476, 513-514, 524, 547, 548-550, 571 plate block, some with bottom stamps Mint N.H., few small faults, overall a Fine-Very Fine group
Blocks Balance. Stock book with nice range of mostly blocks, including blocks of four of Nos. 328, 330 (2), 347 (3), 369, 545, 546, F1, few singles such as 545 and 546, also strip of three of No. 33, few plate blocks such as 564 right plate block of six with large 5-point star, 834 top double plate no. and arrow block of four, few Mint N.H., few small faults to be expected but overall fresh and Fine-Very Fine
Plate Blocks Balance, 1922-1931. Album pages of plate blocks, including Nos. 551-569, 571, 575-577, 581-591, 622-623, 631 without gum breakers, 632-634, 635-642, 692-701, several Mint N.H., fresh colors, overall fresh and Fine-Very Fine
Dealer Approvals. Large accumulation of mostly dealer approval sheets/cards in a box, classic stamps as early as 1851 and including some Back-of-Book, each group of purchases helpfully includes the invoice which accompanied it, most stamps are sub-$100 cost but there are a number higher too, a rough estimate of cost to the collector exceeds $5,000
United States and Worldwide Balance. The remainders of a large collection, including a stockbook filled with 29c-34c postage in singles and blocks, plate blocks in six White Ace binders, B.E.P. souvenir cards, foreign in stockbooks and on notebook paper, and more, generally Fine-Very Fine, a considerable amount of usable postage
Singles and Blocks Accumulation. Old-time accumulation in glassines stored in two fancy wooden boxes, starts around Scott 611 and goes to 1350s, many issues represented by singles and/or blocks of four with a few plate blocks, few better includes two sets of 832-834 plate blocks, National Park plate blocks, also some back-of-book such as Air Post with plate blocks of C7-C10, C12, C16, C20-C22, block of four of C18, few Special Delivery, mostly Mint N.H., mostly Fine-Very Fine
Booklets Accumulation. Approximately 182 intact booklets, including BK84, BK86, BK94, BK112 (3), a few others that catalogue around $75-85 apiece, rest are quantities up to 20 of booklets that catalogue $20-30 apiece with some cheaper, almost all Very Fine, Scott value approximately $4,522
Balance. 20 mostly Mint N.H. stamps, including Nos. 232, 233, 235, 236, 238, 286, 296, 297, 397-399, 325, 328-330, 573, overall Fine-Very Fine and attractive group
Accumulation. Old-time holding of multiples and some singles, including panes of Famous Americans including Bell, nice group of singles and blocks from 1920s and 1930s, some Overrun Countries panes, few more modern panes or part panes, few faults, most Fine-Very Fine
Accumulation, 1898-1920s. Stock page of unused stamps, including nice group of Pan-Americans, Louisiana Purchase, Jamestown, few Air Post, few others, mostly unused (no gum) but a few with gum, some faults, Fine appearing group
Blocks Balance. Seven Mint N.H. blocks, including plate block of six of No. 267, blocks of Nos. 301, 314, Very Fine-Extremely Fine group
United States Collection Balance. Beginner collection includes mint Kansas overprints less the 5c and 6c, Nebraska overprints complete, Prexie dollar values, and more, also several dozen complete booklets including BK56, BK68, BK75, BK82, BK84, BK86, and more, Fine-Very Fine
Balance. Four items, including 673 plate block (original gum), C2 plate block of six (small thin in selvage), Q4 bottom plate no. block of four, Mint N.H. but tiny gum skips, RW2 Mint N.H. with tiny scuff, the RW2 and Q4 with 2023 P.S.E. certificates
Certified and Mostly Graded Used Balance. Nine used stamps, all are certified and most are P.S.E. graded, including Nos. 295 (95), 319 (95), 371 with part imprint (100), 632a (PFC), C4 (95), C10 (95), K6 (P.F. 85, slight color oxidation), K10 (P.S.A.G. 90), also Virginia City Pony Express No. 143L8 (PFC, faults), overall an Extremely Fine group, SMQ for the seven graded stamps is $1,490 (as all P.S.E.)
Accumulation. Carton with a range of items, including some face value, better items include 10X1 proof on card, No. 56, used No. 120 with clear 2002 P.F. certificate, some faults, some Fine-Very Fine
Classic Unused Balance. 11 unused stamps, mostly no gum or regummed, plus a few couple original gum, all appear fresh to the eye and a number Extremely Fine, but many with some sort of problem such as reperfing, including Nos. 63, 133 (original gum), 133a, 149, 156, 160, 178 (part original gum), 179, 218, 477 (original gum), Very Fine-Extremely Fine appearance, Scott value as all no gum except for the three described above as original gum $3,330
Eclectic Balance. Miscellaneous balance from the Champagne stock, some of this is reference material but there are legitimate items as well, including his faulty reference No. 64a (no certificate and no guarantee that it is 64a), a nice 64b on cover, another likely 64 on cover he also kept as reference for possible 64a, other 64b's and 65's, some Nos. 528A and 634 postal counterfeits, Revenues Nos. R98a and R101a, other material including test booklets, postage currency, even two Israel No. 25 Mint N.H. with tab (Champagne retail $450), the last chance to buy a lot from the Champagne stock
