30c Orange, F. Grill (100). Original gum, brilliant color, clearly defined grill, negligible single nibbed perf at bottom left

FRESH AND FINE. AN ATTRACTIVE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1868 30-CENT F GRILL.

This stamp is infrequently found with original gum and a Power Search review of examples we have sold reveals that when one is found, more often than not it has faults, poor centering or both.

With 2024 P.F. certificate.

Sale 1348, Lot 47, 1867-68 Grilled Issue

90c Blue, F. Grill (101). Original gum, deep rich color, choice centering for this difficult issue with well-proportioned margins, expertly reperfed at right which is not noted on accompanying certificate

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1868 F GRILL. ONE OF THE MOST DIFFICULT OF THE REGULARLY ISSUED GRILLS TO OBTAIN IN ORIGINAL-GUM CONDITION.

Scott 101 is very rare with original gum. Most copies have either disturbed or part original gum, or are significantly off-center. The example offered here, with full original gum and with decent centering (despite reperfing) is a rare example of this issue with nice eye appeal.

Ex Hoffman. With clear 2001 P.S.E. certificate.
