Nov. 12 4:30PM 1910 Rec'd" backstamp, the label seal from Akron N.Y. placed over left edge of cover and signed by "Mrs. John Martin, Churchill", additional strike of Akron N.Y. duplex at left dated Nov. 10, pencil "no stamps used", opened roughly at right

VERY FINE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THIS TYPESET SEAL FROM AKRON, NEW YORK. A GREAT RARITY OF THIS COLLECTING AREA.

Accompanied by Jan. 3, 2000  note from William Barlow who surmises this was a local printing, based on the typefaces. Scott notes "No. LOX42 is unique". It is unpriced.

Block of 20 comprising the bottom two rows of the sheet with selvage on all three sides, left two stamps missing the overprint, right selvage with part of "Canal" overprint, tropicalized original gum, rich color, few natural gum creases do not affect either error

VERY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL PLATE POSITION MULTIPLE CONTAINING TWO OF THE TEN POSSIBLE ERROR STAMPS.

Only one sheet exists with the printing shifted to the right, creating ten stamps with the overprint omitted in the lefthand column of the sheet. The multiple offered here is especially desirable because it shows part of the shifted overprint in the selvage at right.

Ex Justi and Helme. Scott value as two singles without overprint

Canal Zone, 1924, 5c-1b Coat of Arms, Unissued Set (68 var-69 var). Seven stamps representing the complete set of the unissued Coat of Arms values above the 2c, tropicalized original gum, rich colors, Fine-Very Fine, these were prepared but never issued as the use of overprinted U.S. stamps began in April 1925, 600 sets were sent to the Director General of Posts of Panama, ostensibly for transmission to the UPU in Switzerland, a small number of sets ended up in the hands of dealers, the balance of the supply was destroyed in 1937

Canal Zone, 1931, 3c Violet, Booklet Pane of Six, Handmade Perf Margins (102a). CZSG 102a, Mint N.H., deep rich color, choice centering

EXTREMELY FINE. THE FINEST RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THIS BOOKLET PANE. ONLY EIGHT PANES IN TOTAL ARE RECORDED.

According to Canal Zone Stamps, the 3c Lincoln was in production for only a short period of time before the switch was made to the 3c Washington stamp. Only two intact booklets and four panes are known.

With 1994 P.S.E. and 2004 P.F. certificates, the latter declining opinion, so offered on its own considerable merits.

Canal Zone, 1962, 4c Thatcher Ferry Bridge, Silver (Bridge) Omitted (157a). Position 40, Mint N.H. with sheet margin at right, brilliant colors on bright paper

EXTREMELY FINE. A SUPERB SHEET-MARGIN EXAMPLE OF THE THATCHER FERRY BRIDGE ERROR. ONLY ONE PANE OF 50 IS AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS.

According to Canal Zone Stamps, one sheet, consisting of four panes of 50, was printed. three panes were caught by postal authorities, while the fourth pane of 50 was sent to H.E. Harris & Co. as part of a larger order from the Canal Zone Philatelic Agency. At the same time this error was printed, the U.S. had issued the Dag Hammarskjold error in huge quantities. The Canal Zone authorities made plans to do the same, but they were successfully sued by H.E. Harris, and the larger printing never took place. The pane was broken up in 1969.

With 1985 P.F. certificate.
