EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 IMPERFORATE ONE-CENT TYPE III FROM PLATE FOUR.
Type III is defined as having breaks in the outer lines at both top and bottom. Many Type III stamps have breaks that were created or enlarged by plate wear. Since the wear occurred over a period of time, the majority of stamps of this type (both unused and used) have small breaks in at least one line.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF THE 1851 ONE-CENT TYPE IV WITH THE HIGHLY COVETED P.S.E. GRADE OF GEM 100.
Apart from the extraordinary Gem 100 quality of this stamp, it is also of particular interest to specialists in the 1c 1851 Issue. Position 30L on Plate 1 Late is one of six positions that show the Scott-listed "bottom frameline broken" variety in later impressions from the worn plate. The bottom line on this stamp is very weak and shows a tiny break just under the "C" of "Cent" that possibly qualifies it as the variety.
Ex "European Connoisseur". With 2015 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100). Only three others share this desirable grave with eleven higher.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM AND THE ESSENCE OF PERFECTION. THIS IS ONE OF ONLY SIX EXAMPLES OF THE 3-CENT 1851 ISSUE TO ACHIEVE THE P.S.E. GRADE OF GEM 100 JUMBO.
Many collectors have a tendency to discount how difficult it is to find imperforate classics in such superb condition. The assumption is that there are multiples which can be split to "make" perfect singles. However, one would need a lightly cancelled block of nine, with no wrinkles or other minor defects, to produce a single such as the one offered here.
Ex "Tahoe". 1997 P.F. certificate no longer accompanies. With 2008 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100 Jumbo; unpriced in this grade, SMQ $1,000 as 100). Only five others have achieved this perfect grade.

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT USED EXAMPLE OF THE 12-CENT 1851 ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E.
While Superb 98 is an exceptionally high grade for any 12c 1851 Issue, frankly we are surprised this stamp did not earn the P.S.E. "Jumbo" appellation, which would have increased its SMQ value from $2,750 to $4,000. Considering the width of the margins, the buyer of this stamp will acquire a true Jumbo example without factoring the P.S.E. premium for Jumbo into the equation.
