1c Blue, Ty. II, Major Plate Crack (7 var). Positions 23-24L2, horizontal pair, left stamp with lightning bolt flaw through entire design top to bottom, mostly ample to large margins, neat New Orleans circular datestamps, Very Fine, a premium example of this major plate crack, ex Diamond, Scott value as singles
1c Blue, Ty. II, Major Plate Crack (7 var). Reconstruction of the Plate 2 crack with Positions 1L (dropped-relief variety), 2L (unused, no gum, with 3L originally forming a pair), 12L, 13L, 23L and 33L (trace of crack at top left), margins vary and minor flaws, still an impressive reconstruction, ex Neinken, Wagshal and Merlin

No. 11A Yellow Rose Red, vertical strip of three, Positions 74/84/94L5L, showing major plate crack thru bottom two stamps, town cancels, center stamp long thin and ink spot, Fine appearance and very rare in a vertical strip showing the entire plate crack, also two No. 25A, Positions 84L5L and 94L5L showing the same major plate crack but on the perforated Ty. II issue, town cancels, 84L5L with small internal crease, 94L5L with trimmed perfs at right, Fine appearance and nice companions to the imperforate strip, the No. 25A stamps catalogue $1,500 each

IV (9) on 1856 buff cover to Queenstown, Canada West, red "United States 6d" oval handstamp and arrival backstamp, cover with staining at top left, Fine appearance and very rare example of the Plate 5 Late plate crack in a vertical strip showing the entire crack, we are aware of three such strips (one offered in the previous lot), this is the only recorded example on cover

Vertical pair (rejoined), Positions 13/23L2, clearly defined major crack thru both stamps, deep rich color, red New York carrier cancel, centered to right which maximizes the visible portion of the crack, Fine pair of this dramatic variety, perforated examples of the Plate 2 flaw are much scarcer than imperforate
