10c Green, Ty. IV (34). Position 76L1, recut at bottom, essentially perfect centering, lovely rich color with a light circular datestamp cancel, clear impression

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING USED EXAMPLE OF THE PERFORATED 1857 10-CENT TYPE IV WITH BALANCED MARGINS AND A LIGHT TOWN CANCEL, GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. — THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED.

10c Type IV stamps are defined by the recut of one or both outer lines at the top or bottom of the design. Type IV stamps come from only seven scattered positions on the left pane and one position on the right pane of Plate 1. Therefore, only 4% of the stamps from Plate 1 are Type IV.

Ex Kirke. With 2010 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (XF-Superb 95). This is the highest grade awarded and only three others share this desirable grade.

EXTREMELY FINE USED EXAMPLE OF THE PERFORATED 1857 10-CENT TYPE IV WITH BALANCED MARGINS AND A NEAT TOWN CANCEL, FROM THE ONLY POSITION RECUT AT BOTH TOP AND BOTTOM.

Of these eight positions, 64L1 is the only one with recut lines at both top and bottom.

12c Black, Plate 3 (36B). Superbly centered, intense shade and impression providing the background for a vivid red grid cancel, wonderfully fresh

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THE PERFORATED 12-CENT STAMPS FROM PLATE 3 ARE EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT TO FIND IN HIGH-GRADE USED CONDITION. THIS SPECTACULAR STAMP WITH A RED CANCEL AND GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. IS ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING USED EXAMPLES WE HAVE ENCOUNTERED.

Ex "European Connoisseur". With 2015 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95). There is only one graded higher (98) and 13 others share this grade, but this is one of even fewer with a red cancel.

24c Gray (37a). Darker shade and sharper impression than the normal shade, choice centering for this difficult issue with well-proportioned margins and perforations clear of outer projections on all sides, nicely complemented by red grid cancel

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A STUNNING USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1860 24-CENT IN THE DISTINCT GRAY SUB-SHADE. THIS SHADE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN IN SUCH SUPERB CONDITION. THIS IS GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 BY P.S.E. — THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED.

In our opinion the 24c 1860 Issue in the Gray shade is considerably scarcer than the main shade listing and deserves a higher catalogue value. The P.S.E. Population Report contains more than 190 copies of the basic shade of Scott No. 37 versus only 38 in all categories for the Gray shade.

With 2009 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95). This is the highest grade awarded and only two others share this grade.

30c Orange (38). Vibrant color, exceptional centering for this difficult issue, lightly struck face-free cancel

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A GORGEOUS USED EXAMPLE OF THE 30-CENT 1860 ISSUE, GRADED XF-SUPERB 95 JUMBO BY P.S.E. AN EXTREMELY DIFFICULT STAMP TO FIND IN SUCH SUPERB USED CONDITION.

The 30c 1860 challenges collectors for several reasons. First, the subjects were closely spaced together on the plate, leaving almost no room for perforations and little opportunity to create stamps with perforations clear of the design on all four sides. Second, the 30c and 90c 1860 were only in circulation for a brief period before the series was demonetized in the Fall of 1861. Third, this high-denomination stamp was issued for use on transatlantic mail, and postal clerks were careful to thoroughly cancel the stamps to prevent cleaning and re-use. Therefore, 30c 1860 stamps in sound, well-centered and lightly cancelled condition defy all circumstances and are extremely rare.

Ex Merlin. With 2006 P.S.E. certificate (XF-Superb 95J). This is the only example to achieve this grade and one has graded higher (at 98).
