5c Indigo (216). Used with Samoa, 1890, 1p Yellow Green, 2p Orange Brown, Perf 12 x 11-1/2 (11b, 13b), all stamps tied by three strikes of large dotted grid cancel on 1888 cover to Washington D.C., magenta "San Francisco Paid All Aug. 4" and receiving backstamps, 5c small flaw at top of vignette ovalVERY FINE. A RARE MIXED-FRANKING COVER FROM SAMOA TO THE UNITED STATES.
The Odenweller book notes that the grids tying the Samoa and U.S. stamps are different, but we think they are identical and were likely applied to all three stamps on arrival in San Francisco.
