12c Black (69). Used with 1c Blue and 15c Black (63, 69), tied by target cancels and "Newport R.I. Jan. 8, 1866" double-circle datestamp on cover to Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, sender's directive "Via Prussian Closed Mail", red "New York Paid All Br. Transit Jan. 8" datestamp also tying stamps, blue "Verviers Coeln" and receiving backstamps, slightly reduced at left and some minor edgewear, Fine and colorful franking, the Prussian Closed Mail route was closed as of Jan. 1, 1868, so this was sent by North German Union Closed Mail and thus overpaid by 13c, ex Vogel and Gliedman
