Sale 1315, Lot 5470, 1912-23 Issues (Scott 405-497)

$1.00 Violet Black (478). Huge margins and mathematically perfect centering, deep rich color, Washington D.C. double oval cancel

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. An exceptional used EXAMPLE OF THE $1.00 FRANKLIN, SCOTT 478, with the perfect p.s.e. grade of gem 100.

With 2017 P.S.E. certificate (Gem 100). Only one grades higher at 100 Jumbo and no others share this grade. We have never offered that stamp but we feel that the huge margins on this example could also warrant the Jumbo appellation.
