Sale 1362, Lot 1550, 1901 Pan-American Issue (Scott 294-299)

8c Brown Violet & Black, Pan-American (298). Mint N.H., gorgeous deep colors and detailed impressions on fresh paper, perfectly centered with unusually wide margins for this issue

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN EXCEPTIONAL MINT NEVER-HINGED 8-CENT PAN-AMERICAN, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E.

With 2014 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98). Of the 337 graded stamps in the Population Report, only one grades higher (at 98J, we have never offered it) and nine others share this desirable grade. These are very low numbers for such a popular issue.
