Sale 1368, Lot 2154, 5c-10c 1857-60 Issue (Scott 27-35)

10c Green, Ty. IV (34). Position 65L1, recut at top, choice centering, bright shade, cancelled by clear strike of blue circular datestamp

EXTREMELY FINE. A VERY SCARCE EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1857 PERFORATED TYPE IV WITH COLORED TOWN DATESTAMP, GRADED VF-XF 85 BY BOTH P.S.E. AND THE PHILATELIC FOUNDATION.

Although the P.F. and P.S.E. certificates agree on the grade (VF-XF 85), the P.F. identifies the position as 86L1 while the P.S.E. correctly identifies it as 65L1. The two "recut at top" positions are very similar, but this is 65L1 for certain.

With 1986, 2003 and 2006 P.F. certificates (last graded VF-XF 85). With 2005 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85).
