Sale 1374, Lot 4233, 1867-68 Grilled Issue, 1875 Re-Issue mof 1861-66 Issue

1c Blue, F. Grill, Very Thin Paper (92). Excellent centering and margins, bold and perfect strike of target cancel which also misses Franklin's face, bright color

EXTREMELY FINE. A GORGEOUS EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT F GRILL ON VERY THIN PAPER WITH A VERY ATTRACTIVE CANCEL.

A review using Power Search reveals that this is the finest example of Scott No. 92 on thin paper we have offered since at least 1993. With 2026 P.S.E. certificate (XF 90). SMQ does not separately price this variety but values the normal No. 92 at $1,750 for a 90 grade — with only ten grading higher. Scott prices the thin paper variety 66% higher than the normal No. 92.
