Sale 1376, Lot 536, 1851-56 Issue (Scott 5A-17)

10c Green, Ty. I (13). Position 95L1, huge to enormous margins all around including bottom sheet margin and part of adjoining stamp at right, lovely bright color, lightly cancelled by an almost face-free New Orleans circular datestamp

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THE FINEST USED 1855 10-CENT TYPE I IMPERFORATE STAMP WE HAVE OFFERED. A BREATHTAKING STAMP GRADED SUPERB 98 JUMBO BY P.S.E. — THE HIGHEST GRADE AWARDED AND SHARED BY NO OTHERS.

For some unknown reason, even though the 10c Type I stamps come from the bottom row of the sheet, most have the sheet margin trimmed. The stamp offered here, with its wide sheet margin and enormous margins on all sides, is a condition rarity of the highest order.

Ex Drs. Dauer. With 1993, 2005 P.F. and 2008 P.S.E. certificates (Superb 98 Jumbo). This is the highest grade awarded and it is shared by no others.
